I will explain the title of this review. As a hair remover, this stuff is great. It might even less painful than the Nair fresh peach melon microwave wax I was used to using. It also has a nice, subtle fragrance, and in that respect it is also more pleasant to smell than the Nair wax, which is a bit overpowering in the fragrance department.

Now, the major problem: this stuff is a nightmare to clean off. Unlike the Nair, this stuff is not water soluble in the least. You can scrub your skin with soap and water until the cows come home, but the wax will still be there. I don’t know what it is about the chemicals in this, but once it’s on your skin, it ain’t coming off unless you douse it with the “azulene finish oil” that comes with it. That is scary because once you realize that’s the only stuff that’s going to remove this wax, the dinky little container of oil that can be very easily spilled becomes liquid gold, and you realize you’re using quite a bit of it and will probably run out of that before you run out of wax or strips. That seems like a major oversight to me if they’re going to call this stuff “smart wax.”

Amazon says this product is not currently available, but not why. I just recently bought it at my local drug store. The only reason I bought this in the first place was because the Nair stuff is impossible to find anymore. Now I see Amazon is selling the Nair wax again, so I’m going to buy that. Not sure if I’ll use the rest of this product because I fear I will have some sort of terrible accident with it.

I agree that there are not enough strips included with this product, but that’s my only complaint. It is so easy to use, a little messy but just put some newspaper down to catch any drips and you’ll be fine. I’ve paid $100 to have my legs/bikini waxed in a salon and I honestly see no difference in the results whether they do it for $100 or I do it for $10.

First off, I bought this product for a bikini wax, which is definitely (I’ve learned) the most difficult and painful place to do a self-wax. It also took me a LONG time. In the future, I’m probably going to fork over the dough to have someone else do it! It’s worth every penny, I’ve learned.

The wax was easy to spread, but it was VERY sticky, and impossible to get off without the oil that comes in the box. It stuck to the hair follicles really well though. I rarely had to go over a patch twice. I agree with the other reviewer that there should be more fabric strips. There’s enough wax in the jar for probably four waxings, but only enough fabric strips for 2.

I disagree with the product’s claim that it doesn’t stick to skin. My skin was very red and splotchy when I was done. More splotchy than when I have gone to the professionals in the past.

As a seasoned home waxer I have to say that one star is way too much for this product! It is HORRIBLE! I moved to the States from the UK, where I am used to a wax that washes off easily with warm water, and real cotton strips that you can rinse then put in the washing machine and use again and again. Having run out of my British stuff I turned to Sally Hansen as a name that I recognized from other American products. BIG MISTAKE! Like all the other one star reviews say, it sticks like glue and the only way to get it off is with the tiny bottle of oil that comes with it. After one use on just my bikini line, I am out of oil and have no way of getting the stickiness off of just about everything in my bathroom!! The strips that come with it are some sort of paper derivative, and completely useless! And with how you have to tug to get them off, I am left with bruises and raw patches of skin despite using baby powder in preparation, as I always do.

One star will cover the fact that it does have a nice hot fudge type smell, and it comes with about 5 or 6 spatulas. However, that is because you can only use each spatula once as you can’t wash them and use them again. If I was keeping this product and using up the whole tub, I would be out of spatulas about half way through the wax. Thankfully, the almost full tub, is firmly in the trash with the spatulas saved for another waxing kit. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Can anyone recommend an American waxing kit like my kit from the UK that I described?

This was my second home waxing experience and I have to say I was very pleased. My apprehension to try waxing again was significant as my last attempt was painful, expensive and ineffective. This wax was easy to use, inexpensive and as painless as I can imagine it gets. I used this two weeks ago on my bikini area and legs and there is still no sign of re-growth.

My only quarrel is that it is quite messy, and they don’t supply you with enough removal strips. I have half a container of wax left but ran out of strips halfway through. There should really be fifty as opposed to 25. It would be nice if Sally Hansen offered a supplementary pack of waxing strips you could buy separately. Also, the wax does not wash off with water. However the oil that comes with the kit for after waxing removes it easily.

If you use this right and can deal with a bit of a mess I highly recommend it.
