Hair Removal Techniques: What are Depilatory Creams?
When investigating different hair removal techniques, Depilatory creams are undoubtly a popular method of removing unwanted hair from the body or face. But what is a depilatory cream? Well, depilatories are substances made of a chemical cream (or a chemical mixture if you will), designed to melt unwanted hair. The chemical substance slowly dissolves the hair at the skin’s surface. Depilatory creams as hair removal techniques are available not only in cream, but also in gel, lotion and even roll-on forms and aerosols.
You should know that there are many different kinds of depilatory creams in the market, and some of them are actually stronger than others. That’s why it is important to always look at the instructions written on the cover of the box. The substances are sometimes made of baby oil and sometimes cocoa butter, to maintain the skin’s natural moisture.
Depilatory Creams Hair Removal
Removing unwanted hair using common depilatory creams could actually benefit the skin. Especially when comparing depilatories to traditional hair removal techniques, such as waxing or shaving. I’m not saying that depilatories are preferred from modern hair removing techniques such as laser hair removal or intense pulsed light (IPL), but I’m saying that you should consider this an option, as it’s fairly cheap, works fast, rather painless and common.
Depilatories are mostly used for the legs, arms, underarms, and sometimes for bikini hair removal as well. You should always be careful when using depilatories, though. It can be dangerous if it come in contact with the eyes, genitals, lips (or mouth), inner ear etc. That’s why I always recommend on doing a small test on a specific part of the body, just before applying the cream to the whole selected area. Moreover, some people suffer from allergic reactions to depilatories.
