Do you go to beauty schools to get your hair cut? For other salon services?

I got my nails done at a beauty school once and found the whole experience unpleasant and didn’t get the manicure I was after at all. But a couple of my friends get every thing done (waxing, haircuts, manis, pedis) at beauty school for super cheap. They swear everyone’s supervised and so forth, so you’re not going to end up looking ridiculous. It’s cheap. But I have my doubts.

It depends on the beauty school. Go to the ones that prepare their students to work in the higher end salons (they’ll teach precision cutting, for example – the others don’t). They’ll do a much better job.

We used to do that. The prices are great and everyone is supervised.
HOWEVER: I took my 8 year old daughter to a beauty school for her very first haircut.(Hair to her bottom!) The hair stylist took one snip of my daughters hair and showed it to her. My daughter slumped over and fell out of the chair! I thought she was de*d! The hairstylist picked her up and starting running around with my daughter unconscious in his arms. He even ran outside with her and I had to chase him to tell him to put her down. I told him to put her flat on the floor with her feet raised. She came to quickly after that. My daughter later told me that the stylist had put apron on too tight and she couldn’t breathe!

I really felt sorry for the guy, he was TERRIFIED! I wonder if he still does kids hair? We haven’t gone back since…
