Another shot of the Queen in the process of depositing an egg in an empty cell. Sorry about her messy yellow spot (she moved in the marking cage before the paint dried!). She’s in antennal contact with one of her retinue. You can also see a wax scale stuck on the inside of the observation hive glass. This is the pristine wax produced from the abdominal wax glands of workers between 12 and 14 days of age.
